Who am I? Why am I here?

My name is David Swanger. I was born in 1954, grew up in Childersburg, AL, and have lived most of my adult life in Auburn, AL. I’ve also lived 11 years or so in Georgia (Columbus and Warner Robins).

I am a husband, guitar player, retired computer analyst, stepfather, and laid-back Christian. In my youth, I worked in restaurants, factories, a library, and various construction jobs. I’ve worked hundreds (thousands?) of music jobs as a non-famous guitarist. I’ve traveled the world though I haven’t visited every state in the USA yet. I was raised in the Methodist Church and haven’t seen the need to change, though I don’t attend services every week.

For several years, some of my in-laws have suggested (demanded?) that I become a writer. I think they believe in my potential more than I do. My lifelong lack of discipline has prevented me from writing an actual book so far. It could happen. Maybe. Until then, this blog is what they will get.

I used to be a professional computer analyst, but I’d never used blogging software before now. There has been a learning curve. If you click on the blog and something doesn’t work, it’s probably my fault.

I have stories in my head that I want to write down before I forget them. My mother had dementia, and I hear it runs in the family. I created this blog for these stories, some opinion articles, and other ideas. For all I know, I may be the only person who wants to read this stuff. God help us all.
